Google result preview
See how a page title and description may look in Google, and check their length.
Runs in your browser. What you type is not sent anywhere.
Preview
This is an approximation. Google decides what to show and how much, based on the device and on the search.
How to use it
- 01Type the title and description you plan to use for the page.
- 02Check the counters and see where the preview is cut off, on desktop and mobile.
- 03Adjust the text until the important words come first and nothing is lost.
Questions
How long should a title be?
A common guide is 30 to 60 characters. Google cuts titles by width, not by characters, so wide letters take more room. The preview here measures the width, but only approximately.
How long should a meta description be?
A common guide is 70 to 160 characters. Google may show a different text from the page if it thinks that answers the search better.
Does a good preview improve my ranking?
Not directly. A clear title and description can make people more likely to click your result, but they do not decide where the page ranks.
Does it work for Arabic?
Yes. Arabic text is previewed right to left. The width is measured with the fonts in your browser, so the cut-off point is approximate.
Is anything stored or sent?
No. Everything is measured in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
